Your Statutory Rights
At The Georgian Import Co, we are committed to ensuring you are completely satisfied with your purchase. Your statutory rights under UK law are fully protected, and we aim to make returns as straightforward as possible.
This returns policy complies with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Important Notice
This policy applies to retail customers purchasing for personal use. Trade customers should refer to their specific trade terms and conditions.
Your 14-Day Cancellation Right
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving any reason.
The Cancellation Period
You have 14 calendar days from the day you (or a third party you nominate, other than the carrier) receives the goods to notify us of your cancellation. Once you have notified us, you then have a further 14 days to return the goods to us.
How to Cancel
To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement. You may:

Please include your order number, the item(s) you wish to return, and the reason for cancellation (optional but helpful).
Return Conditions
Goods Must Be in Resaleable Condition
To be eligible for a return under the 14-day cancellation right, goods must be:
- Unopened and in their original packaging
- Unused and in the same condition as when received
- Complete with all original labels and seals intact
- Accompanied by proof of purchase
Alcohol Licensing Requirements
Due to UK alcohol licensing laws, we can only accept returns of alcoholic beverages that remain sealed and unopened. Once a seal is broken, the product cannot be resold and therefore cannot be returned under the 14-day cancellation right, except where faulty.
Diminished Value
You are liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods. We may reduce your refund to reflect any reduction in value if the goods have been handled beyond what would be permitted in a shop.
Refunds & Timescales
When Will I Receive My Refund?
We will process your refund within 14 days of:
- Receiving the returned goods back from you, OR
- Receiving proof that you have sent the goods back, whichever is earliest
Refund Method
We will refund you using the same payment method you used for the original purchase, unless you expressly agree otherwise. You will not incur any fees as a result of the refund.
What’s Included in the Refund?
- The price of the goods
- Standard delivery charges (if the entire order is returned)
We are not obliged to refund premium delivery costs if you chose an enhanced delivery service. You will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods unless they are faulty or not as described.
Faulty or Incorrect Goods
Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by our returns policy. If goods are faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose, different rules apply.
Your Rights for Faulty Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be:
- Of satisfactory quality
- Fit for particular purpose
- As described
Within 30 Days of Purchase
If goods are faulty within the first 30 days, you are entitled to a full refund under the “short-term right to reject.”
After 30 Days
After 30 days (but within 6 months of purchase), you are entitled to:
- One opportunity for us to repair or replace the faulty goods
- A refund or price reduction if repair or replacement is impossible or unsuccessful

Please provide your order number, photographs of the fault where applicable, and a description of the issue. We will arrange collection or return of faulty goods at no cost to you.
How to Return Items
Step 1 — Notify Us
Contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to notify us of your intention to return. Provide your order number and the items you wish to return.
Step 2 — Package Items Securely
Pack items securely in their original packaging where possible. Ensure bottles are well protected to prevent breakage during transit. You are responsible for the goods until they reach us.
Step 3 — Return the Goods
Send items back to us within 14 days of notifying us of cancellation. We recommend using a tracked postal service as you are responsible for the goods until we receive them.
Step 4 — Inspection & Refund
Upon receipt, we will inspect the goods and process your refund within 14 days, provided the return conditions are met.
Return Address
Please contact us for our returns address before sending items back. Do not return items without prior notification.
Exceptions to Returns
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, certain goods are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right:
- Goods sealed for health protection or hygiene reasons that have been unsealed after delivery — this applies to opened alcoholic beverages
- Goods which are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly
- Custom-made or personalised goods
These exceptions do not affect your rights if goods are faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Trade & Business Customers
If you are purchasing as a business or for business purposes, different terms may apply. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and certain provisions of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 do not apply to business-to-business transactions.
