Legal Requirement
Under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Act 2012, it is a criminal offence to sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 in the United Kingdom.
It is illegal to purchase or attempt to purchase alcohol if you are under 18. It is also an offence for anyone to purchase alcohol on behalf of a person under 18 (known as “proxy purchasing”).
By accessing our website and placing an order, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that the purchase is for your own personal use or lawful resale — not for supply to a minor.
Website Age Verification Gate
All visitors to thegeorgianimport.co are required to pass an age verification check before accessing any products or content on the site. This is done by entering a valid date of birth confirming you are 18 or over.
Upon first visiting the site, an age verification screen is displayed. You cannot proceed without completing this step.
Enter your day, month, and year of birth. Our system will calculate your age and verify you are 18 or over.
If you select “Remember me on this device”, your verification is stored for 90 days via a secure cookie. If left unchecked, you will be asked to verify again each time you open a new browser session — recommended for shared or family devices.
Anyone who cannot confirm they are 18 or over will be redirected away from the site and will be unable to browse or purchase.
If you share a device with children or young people, we strongly recommend not selecting “Remember Me” so that age verification is required at every session.
Challenge 25 Policy
The Georgian Import Co operates a Challenge 25 policy. This means that if a person accepting delivery appears to be under the age of 25, our delivery partners are instructed to request valid photographic proof of age before handing over the goods.
If satisfactory identification cannot be provided:
- The delivery will be refused and the goods returned to us
- You will be contacted to arrange a redelivery at a suitable time
- Repeated failures to provide ID may result in order cancellation and a full refund
We appreciate that this may occasionally cause inconvenience, but it is a necessary measure to fulfil our legal obligations.

National Identity Card
Expired documents, photocopies, or digital images of ID will not be accepted. The ID must be valid, original, and in good condition.
Proxy Purchasing
It is a criminal offence under the Licensing Act 2003 for an adult to purchase alcohol on behalf of a person under 18. This is known as “proxy purchasing” and can result in a fine of up to £1,000.
If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that an order is being placed on behalf of a minor, we reserve the right to cancel the order, refuse delivery, and report the matter to the relevant authorities.
Reporting Concerns
If you have any concerns about underage access to our website or products — including concerns about proxy purchasing — please contact us immediately. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
